“Let us be renewed by God’s mercy … and let us become agents of this mercy, channels through which God can water the earth, protect all creation and make justice and peace flourish.” Pope Francis
From Pope Francis’ Bull of Indiction of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy: “Mercy is the very foundation of the Church’s life. All of her pastoral activity should be caught up in the tenderness she makes present to believers; nothing in her preaching and in her witness to the world can be lacking in mercy. The Church’s very credibility is seen in how she shows merciful and compassionate love.”
The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, as Mother Church of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, invites you to participate in action and reflection focused on the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy during this Jubilee Year.
Opportunities for formation, reflection and action will be posted here regularly as well as announced in the weekly parish bulletin. Additionally, you can subscribe to the blog, where opportunities as well as reflections will be posted throughout the year.
When posting your photos, reflections or status updates on social media, please use #mercifulcsjmke to spread the word of the Cathedral’s response to the Pope’s call for a Jubilee Year of Mercy.
The Evangelization Committee has a number of programs taking place during the Season of Lent reflecting on the Jubilee of Mercy. For more information see this page: Evangelization.
