Hurricane Florence

ArchLogoHow You Can Help: Statement from the Archdiocese of Milwaukee Regarding Hurricane Florence

As Hurricane Florence moves rapidly through the Carolinas, we lift up in prayer all of those who may be impacted, asking God to guide the first responders to those in need, and to ‘love thy neighbor’ by offering assistance to those within their community and beyond.

Initially a Category 4 hurricane, Florence has produced rainfall flooding, life-threatening storm surges and destructive winds. Despite being a thousand miles away in Wisconsin, we still have ways to help victims of Hurricane Florence.

One way to assist is through making a donation to Catholic Charities USA. The agencies of Catholic Charities directly impact areas by initially taking on the role as short-term disaster responders, providing victims with food, financial aid, clothing, shelter, gas and retail store cards, and household goods.

In addition, Catholic Charities has opened shelters, established temporary housing in diocesan and state facilities, provided crisis counseling, organized parish “Adopt-a-Family” programs, held furniture drives, and raised money to offer assistance.

Donations can be made online at catholiccharitiesusa.org or by texting CCUSADISASTER to 71777.

Let us join in prayer for those who are in the path of Hurricane Florence. May God bless and protect them, and may He extend the might of his right hand and bid the sea be “quiet and still” (Mark 4:39).
