Contemplative Prayer for Reconciliation and the Healing of Racism

Each Friday from 12:15 – 12:45 pm, join others at the Cathedral (or in solidarity wherever you are) to prayerfully commit to the healing of racism – in ourselves, in our community and in the structures in which we live and work.  To sign up for a weekly prayer/reflection too, please use this link:

Racial Solidarity Book Discussion

The Human Concerns Commission invites all parishioners and friends of the Cathedral to read The Warmth of Other Suns by Isabel Wilkerson (copies available through Shelly’s office for $12-15). This award winning book is a history of the Great Migration – black Americans migrating West and North from 1915 – 1970. We will gather these days and times throughout summer to discuss:

  • Sunday, July 16 from 1 – 3 (during Bastille Days): Discuss Parts 1 and 2.
  • Thursday, August 10 from 5:30 – 7:30 PM (during Jazz in the Park): Discuss Parts 3 and 4
  • Saturday, September 9 from 3 pm – 5 pm (Mass for National Day of Prayer for Peace in our Communities at 5:15 PM at Cathedral) Discuss Part 5… then stay for Mass and Reception!

Please RSVP to Shelly for discussion dates you can attend – parking spots will be reserved for the first 5-6 people to RSVP (if needed).

Monthly Digest

Each second Sunday of the month is Sharing Sunday. In addition to our generosity to the Open Door Cafe and the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Human Concerns Commission publishes a bulletin insert highlighting activities and people associated with this area of ministry.
