Michael J. Batcho

Attending Mass at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist is both beautiful to the eyes and ears of its parishioners and guests. This is due, in part, to the talent and commitment of Michael Batcho. With 26 years parish experience in Wisconsin, Maine and Virginia, he is the primary organist for the Cathedral’s weekend Masses, parish weddings and conducts the Cathedral Choir,  Women’s Choir and Cathedral Chorale. He also facilitates the Fine Arts Series.

Michael graduated Magna Cum Laude from West Virginia University with a degree in music education and received his master’s degree in Choral Conducting from Virginia Commonwealth University. In addition, he completed coursework in liturgy and theology at Notre Dame University and Washington Theological Union. Michael maintains his accomplished profession as a member of the Conference of Roman Catholic Cathedral Musicians, National Association of Pastoral Musicians, American Guild of Organists and American Choral Directors Association.

Michael is also an adjunct faculty member at Cardinal Stritch University, where he conducts the Concert Choir.

Area of Responsibility: Oversees and develops the communal prayer and worship life of the parish through music. Serves as the director of the Cantors Guild, Adult Choir and Women's Choir. Oversees the outreach of the parish in the area of Fine Arts.

Staff Liaison to the Worship Commission and Fine Arts Commission of the Parish Council.
