Financial Gifts to the Cathedral

Each day of the year the parishioners of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist live the simple quest of staying true to our heritage.

We offer nourishment for the soul through:

• Liturgical celebrations of the Mass and the sacraments

• Faith formation for adults and children

• Bible study groups and book clubs

We reach out to those with primary life-needs through:

• Open Door Café mid-day meal program serving 55,000 meals annually

• Bus ticket assistance for medical appointments

• Services of a Parish Nurse

We raise spirits through:

• Original concerts and art exhibits

• Picnics and community gatherings

• Visits to the homebound

Our vibrant parish enjoys unique privileges and opportunities as Mother Church of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. While supporting both roles of Cathedral and parish requires an annual budget that exceeds $1.3 million, the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist parish is a separate corporation and receives no funding from the Archdiocese. Though our home is a magnificent and imposing Milwaukee landmark, we are a small parish that cannot support the Cathedral mission alone. We are good stewards of the gifts we have been given, and work to stretch our budget to accomplish so much.

After more than a century and a half the Cathedral remains a beacon of faith, a haven and advocate for those in need, and a patron of the arts. It is the generous financial gifts, from both our parishioners and our friends, that make this possible!

It is more critical today than ever for all of us to work together as Church to reveal the presence of Christ. As always you will be lifted up in prayer whenever the Cathedral family gathers to continue our unique mission.
