Planned Giving

Over the past 164 years many parishioners and friends have left legacies to the Cathedral. Their financial gifts – both large and small – have made an incalculable difference in the lives of those who worship at the Cathedral. Their generous planned gifts have supported every part of our ministry – from our social outreach programs, spiritual formation, sacred arts, and the preservation of our Cathedral and grounds. Their legacy have become a part of the Cathedral’s legacy!

The Cathedral Legacy Society

A charitable gift is one of the easiest ways that you can leave a lasting impact on the Cathedral parish – your Legacy. Today there are many ways for you to include the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in your planned giving.

  • Provision in Will or Revocable Living Trust

  • Life Insurance

  • Charitable Remainder Trust

  • Charitable Lead Trust

  • Retirement Plan or IRA

As there are diverse legal and financial instruments available to you, we encourage you to contact your attorney or financial planner for help in exploring the many options for remembering the Cathedral in your planned giving. Also to assist you, this link provides the name of the Cathedral and the legally acceptable language to use when making a gift through a Will or Revocable Living Trust.

What is your legacy? Remembering the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist with a gift in your planned giving is a way to say something about what you value the most.

A planned gift can be UNRESTRICTED gifts of cash, personal or real property which you allow the pastor to use for those projects or ministries that are most needed at the time. You can also give these assets as a RESTRICTED gift. This directs the parish in how the funds are to be used, allowing you to support specifically those needs and ministries which are important to you. More information about these specific ministries can be found in the Cathedral’s  Cathedral Legacy Society brochure. To receive a copy of this brochure via first class mail, send an email to Mary Bennett, Director of Administration.

How do I become a member? At the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, our Cathedral Legacy Society honors those who have remembered the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in their planned giving. Members are thanked for their generosity and given a state of the parish report at an annual dinner with the Pastor.

To let the parish know that you have remembered the Cathedral in your planned giving please contact the Cathedral Rector & Pastor, Fr. Jeff Haines, at 414/276-9814, or complete and return the form in the Cathedral Legacy Society brochure. At any time, please let us know if you would like to remain anonymous, so we can respect your wishes.

For additional general information on Planned Gifts for the Cathedral, contact Mary Bennett, Director of Administration at 414/276-9814, ext. 3104 or send an email.
