The Year of St. Paul

Pope Benedict XVI proclaimed a year dedicated to St. Paul in the 2,000th anniversary of the apostle's birth. The Pauline Year will run from June 29, 2008, to June 29, 2009.

In order to help us celebrate this "Year of St. Paul", we have compiled resources to assist us as we explore this Apostle.

Check out the links at the left of this page and check back often as we continue to add new information and events during the course of the year.

Paul and His Four Great Letters
Paul, apostle to the Gentiles, was and is, undoubtedly, the second most influential person in the history of Christianity. We Catholics read from Paul almost every Sunday of the liturgical year, with some exceptions. But who was Paul? To what kinds of communities did he address his letters and with what issues did he deal? How did he develop his theology and what is that theology expressed in his letters? Come and See! This four part series on Paul will focus on the 4 "great" letters of Paul, i.e., I and II Corinthians, Galatians and Romans. Please bring a Bible. Coffee and snacks will be served!

Presenter, Dr. Judette Kolasny, is a Cathedral parishioner. She holds a Ph. D. in New Testament studies from Marquette University and an M. A. in Theology from the University of Dayton. She has held adjunct positions in Scripture at University of Notre Dame, Marquette University, St. Francis Seminary and Carroll College. Currently, she is teaching courses in New Testament at Marquette University.
