Creation Care Team

The Creation Care Team was inspired by Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato si‘. Formed in 2024, the team focuses on celebrating and protecting the natural world, God’s creation. This world is our common home. We attempt to echo what Cardinal Michael Czerny, a Vatican prefect leading the Pope’s focus on the environment, emphasized – that we need to be “faithful stewards of what God has entrusted to us, not only in daily choices and public policies, but also in our prayer, our worship, and our way of living in the world.” He also noted that the most vulnerable suffer first from climate crises, so our care for creation expresses our care for humanity.

In April 2025 we helped clean up the Milwaukee River and distributed free seeds at all the Masses. As we move forward, we hope to inspire liturgies and lead actions that reflect the message of Pope Leo in his July 2025 message to the Boy Scouts of France, “Only interior conversion makes possible a change in habits and mentalities, which translates into a new way of living in communion with the environment. Do not stop believing in a better world and the advent of an authentic civilization of love.”

We meet monthly from September to May.
