Dear friends in Christ,
Christ’s peace to all of you! I am writing to inform you of some changes we will be making to the Liturgical Schedule this summer. Effective July 1, 2026, the weekend Mass schedule will be as follows: Saturday at 5 PM, and Sunday at 8 AM, 10 AM, and 12 PM (Spanish).
There are several reasons for this change. First, it moves the Mass in Spanish a little earlier to noon – a more reasonable time for the Hispanic members of our community. Second, it puts the Mass with the choir at 10 AM – right in the middle of the morning, making the wonderful Cathedral Choir available to more people. Third, it restores the 8 AM Mass, which was a Cathedral fixture for many years. I know that for years the Sunday Mass schedule was 8 AM, 9:30 AM, and 11 AM, so this change is reflective of the history of the Cathedral, a fact which is important to me. Finally, the Saturday evening Mass is hardly changing at all, but making it a little earlier will make it more convenient for people making plans for Saturday night.
Also beginning July 1, we will offer Confessions Monday through Thursday from 4:30-5 PM, leading up to Evening Prayer and daily Mass. Sacramental Confession is important for all of us, and I want to make it more available for our community and the rest of the city. I will continue to offer Confessions during the Spanish Holy Hour at 6 PM Thursdays, and between the 10 AM and noon Sunday Masses, except for when we have First Sunday Coffee.
We have over a month before these changes take effect, but I wanted to give you as much advance notice as possible. Thank you for your faith and generosity! May God bless you in these final days of Easter, and let us keep each other always in prayer.

¡La paz de Cristo esté con todos y todas ustedes! Les escribo para informarles sobre algunos cambios que realizaremos en el horario litúrgico este verano. A partir del 1 de julio de 2026, el horario de las Misas de fin de semana será el siguiente: Sábados a las 5 PM y Domingos a las 8 AM, 10 AM y 12 PM (Español).
Existen varias razones para este cambio. En primer lugar, adelantar la Misa en español un poco más temprano a las 12 PM es un horario más razonable para los miembros hispanos de nuestra comunidad. En segundo lugar, sitúa la Misa con el coro a las 10 AM, justo a mitad de la mañana, haciendo que el maravilloso Coro de la Catedral esté disponible para más personas. En tercer lugar, restablece la Misa de las 8 AM, la cual fue un horario fijo de la Catedral durante muchos años. Sé que, por años, el horario de las Misas dominicales fue 8 AM, 9:30 AM y 11 AM; por lo tanto, este cambio refleja la historia de la Catedral, un aspecto que es importante para mí. Finalmente, la Misa del sábado por la tarde apenas tendrá cambios; sin embargo, adelantarla un poco la hará más conveniente para aquellas personas que tengan planes para la noche del sábado.
Asimismo, a partir del 1 de julio, ofreceremos Confesiones de lunes a jueves, de 4:30 PM a 5 PM, justo antes de la Oración de la Tarde y de la Misa diaria. La Confesión es importante para todos nosotros, y deseo hacerla más accesible para nuestra comunidad y para el resto de la ciudad. Continuaré ofreciendo Confesiones durante la Hora Santa en español de los jueves a las 6 PM, así como entre la Misa de las 10 AM y la de las 12 PM de los domingos, salvo en las ocasiones en que tengamos el “Café del Primer Domingo”.
Tenemos más de un mes antes de que estos cambios entren en vigor, pero quise avisarle con el mayor tiempo posible. ¡Gracias por su fe y generosidad! Que Dios los bendiga en estos últimos días del tiempo Pascual, y mantengámonos siempre juntos en oración.
