Lent 2024

Lenten Mission – Broken For All

We are excited to welcome Sister Julia Walsh, FSPA for a three-night Lenten Mission on February 26, 27, and 28 at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist from 6:30 – 8:00 pm each night. Simultaneous translation in Spanish will be available for these evenings. There will also be a daytime option on February 27 from 11:00 am – 4:30 pm at Three Holy Women-St. Rita, with a free lunch provided. Registration is required only for the daytime session. Please register with Terri Balash at tbalash@ffpmke.org or 414-469-6173.

Eucharistic living is communal life. Guided by Sister Julia Walsh, Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration and author of “For Love of the Broken Body,” we will gather with other members of the Family of Five Parishes to reflect on being Eucharistic people. As a prayerful community, we will reflect on how we are meant to be blessed, broken and shared as members of the Body of Christ. Opportunities for the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Monday), Adoration (Tuesday), and fellowship (Wednesday) will be included. Each gathering will offer opportunities for participants to consider how they can offer their brokenness for the sake of the common good.

Lenten Almsgiving

Our Family of Five Lenten Almsgiving Program this year will benefit the Open Door Café. Open Door Café serves lunch and provides a safe space to experience love and community Sunday through Friday. Please prayerfully consider how you can volunteer your time or make a financial gift to this important local program.

We invite you to join us – to share a meal, to serve, to donate, to be God’s love in our world today! To volunteer, reach out to Idalia Nieves-Reyes at 414-276-9814 or inievesreyes@ffpmke.org.

For more information about Open Door Café, please visit www.stjohncathedral.org/index.php/odc.

If you’d like to support this almsgiving campaign, please write a check to Cathedral of St. John and put “ODC” in the memo line. Donation envelopes can be found in the pews. Together, we can change the lives of our neighbors in Milwaukee.
